GIRLS JUST
WANT TO HAVE FUN IN COOPERSTOWN! Let's
Go Shopping!
Ellsworth
and Sill, Cooperstown, NY
Cooperstown is far more than a
"baseball town."That's great
news for Mom, who want a family vacation that goes just beyond our
National Pastime.
One walk down
Main St., for example, and you'll find a treasure of things to do --
specifically shopping and spa treatments:
Christmas
Around the Corner, at 46 Pioneer St. (almost at the corner
of Main St.), features an impressive variety of unique ornaments and
gift items to brighten the holiday season. Yes, Christmas Around the
Corner is open in the summer!
The
Cooperstown General Store,
at 45 Main St., will bring you back to the days of Woolworth's,
McCrory's, and Kresge's, but we think that the quality and variety of
merchandise is much better. Plus, having a general store in
an
old-fashioned village like Cooperstown just adds to the authenticity of
this traditional community!
Cooper
Country Crafts, at 2 Doubleday Court (right off Main
St.
nearby Doubleday Field) Cooperstown
area has many talented artists, has a really nice variety of
locally-produced crafts and gifts. The, so it's great to see the Cooper
Country Crafts provide the vehicle to display these one-of-a-kind items.
Ellsworth and
Sill, at 79 Main St.,
is an old-fashioned women's clothing store with warm service
from
another era and a great mix of modern and traditional clothing. You
won't believe that a store like this can exist in our modern era.
Davidson's Jewelry/Augur's Books
at 73 Main St., is another old-fashioned shop, located in a historical
building. Friendly and laid-back, this long-time business has
a
wonderful variety of jewelry and books for such a small space.
They even have baseball jewelry!
Diastole Country Home Decor
& Gifts, at 4 Doubleday Court (right off Main St.
nearby Doubleday Field)
offers unique gifts, active wear, home accessories. various
styles
of furniture, linens, jewelry, purses, , curtains,
bedding
and much more.
Essential Elements Day Spa and
Boutique at 137 Main St. features some nice gifts, jewelry
and apparel, as well as massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and
waxing.The
staff is exceptionally nice, not stuffy and elitist like so many places
of this genre.
The
Lemon Tree Shop,
at 173 Main St., offers cooking and home design merchandise, while Metro
Fashion,
at 147 Main St., sells modern apparel in a funky but informal setting.
Mohican
Flowers
at 207 Main St., has been in Cooperstown for quite some time and with
good reason: friendly service and a terrific display of flowers make
this a special, sweet-smelling destination. It is the
ultimate
small-town flower shop!
The Riverwood, at 88
Main St.,
is one of our favorite shops. Owner Rick Gibbons is an exceptionally
nice, charismatic gentleman who really has "pride of ownership"
written all over him. With a mix of fine and hokey gifts, arts and
rafts.
Tin Bin Alley,
at 114 Main St., has a nostalgic country store-like feel with the aroma
of candles, and a wide variety of "feel good" gifts like jams, jellies,
homemade fudge, old-fashioned candies, hanging wooden signs, nostalgic
tins, toys, jewelry and greeting cards.
The Village Cobbler
at 25 Chestnut St. (virtually at the corner of Main St.), is the only
shoe store in town and it's a good one.
Not only do they sell footwear for women, children and men,
but
also jewelry and gift ware.
Now that we have taken care of lodging and dining, let's take a tour of
some of the best
Cooperstown attractions (including the incredibly rich art
culture in Cooperstown), and free and
inexpensive things to do during your Cooperstown Dreams Park
Vacation!
